Outrigger Canoe Paddling

Paddling with Asa, he took up the sport too!

I was lucky to grow up in Kailua, Hawaii and began outrigger canoe paddling at age 12. It looked fun, so I convinced my girlfriend Lily to sign up with me. Decades later, we still paddle, and remain close friends with the other women we paddled with as kids.

Now, I get to paddle in the cold waters of Bellingham with Bellingham Bay Outrigger Paddlers! I’m so happy to continue one of my favorite activities as an adult. It’s not Hawaii, but it is pretty cool to turn the boat around and see giant Mt Baker looming up behind the town.
